Kaimaktsalan Ski Center, Pella
The Ski Center of Voras – Kaimaktsalan is located in the Prefecture of Pella and is 45 kilometres from the beautiful city of Edessa and it is developed in the southeast side of the mountain at an altitude from 2050 to 2480 meters. Mountain Voras or Kaimaktsalan is on the line along the northern border between Greece and FYROM. For the most part with dense forests of beech and pine trees and typical but rare appearances birch. The mountain is determined by the gentle slopes, and has the highest peak Prophet Elias with altitude 2534 meters. At the top of the mountain there is the beautiful chapel of Prophet Elias.
The Ski Center of Voras – Kaimaktsalan started its operation in January of 1995. Since then, it opens from late November until early May and is one of the few ski resorts in Greece with such long snow suitable for skiing.
The Ski Center has a total of 14 slopes of varying degrees of difficulty:
- 4 easy slopes: No1, No2, No7, No9
- 5 difficult slopes: No3, No4, No5, No6, No8
- Slope for Snowboard or Fun Park: it is specifically designed for snowboard lovers
- Slope for Track Snow Tubing for somersaults and jumps
- 3 racing slopes R1, R2, R3 used for clubs training and races
There are 6 Lifts to move to the slopes:
- 2 ice lanes
- Lift Meterizi (sliding)
- Lift Kremasi (sliding)
- Lift Sarantovrisi 2 (sliding)
- Lift Sarantovrisi 1 (air)
In the Ski Center of Voras – Kaimaktsalan operates a ski school with experienced and qualified instructors for those who decide to have their first contact with this fascinating sport.
The guests of the Ski Center can accommodate in hotels, apartments and rooms in the areas of Vegoritida, Edessa and Pozar (Arnissa, Panagitsa, Agios Athanasios, Kerasia, Loutraki) or even in the Ski Chalet, which is located at 2050 m altitude and has a luxurious Hotel of 46 beds. In the Chalet, apart from the hotel, it operates a restaurant with traditional cuisine, a fast-food and a cafe-bar with stunning panoramic view of the lake Vegoritida. Also, in the area of the ski resort there are shops selling rental equipment for ski and snowboard.
